At SMYSA we believe that all codes of conduct starts with the example shown from the child's parent. Please review the following rules of SMYSA and practice adhering to these conduct requirements.
By registering my child
to play in SMYSA, I agree to
learn the rules of the game and
the league, and agree to comply
with the following Parent Code
of Conduct:
-
I understand that my role as a parent is to support the coaches, officials, and administrators working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
-
I will not attempt to coach from the sidelines, nor will I criticize any player, coach or game official. I will show respect to and be courteous to all game officials, players coaches and other spectators.
-
I will remember that the game is for the players, not for the adults.
-
I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, game officials, administrators, and fans with respect.
-
I will respect the game officials and refrain from questioning their decisions or from addressing them in a loud, disrespectful or abusive manner. Parents should do their best to keep it all in perspective with the understanding that the coach is doing the best they are capable of and their child's long-range career will not be affected. Situations when coaches are not what players expect are great teaching moments for parents. Explaining the non-ideal situation to kids in a positive manner will help kids learn to deal with unpleasant situations in their future. Allowing kids to quit the team or pulling them off a team because of the coach, should be a very last resort.
-
I will engage in positive encouragement of all players and, at all times, I will refrain from making negative or abusive remarks to any player.
-
I will teach and practice good sportsmanship and fair play to my child by personally demonstrating commitment to these virtues. I understand that performance is more important than winning.
-
I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, game officials, and administrators at all times.
-
I will place the emotional and physical well being of all players ahead of any personal desire to win.
-
I will always allow the coach to be the only coach.
-
I will not get into arguments with the opposing team’s parents, players, or coaches.
-
I will not come onto the field for any reason during the game.
-
Ensure that my child is as mentally and physically prepared for games and practices as possible.
-
Inform the coach/manager if my child will miss a practice or a game.
-
Talk with the coach if I have concerns regarding my child and his/her participation on the team.
-
Uphold the purpose of SMYSA which is to teach, develop and promote the game of soccer with a strong emphasis on the equal opportunity for each player to play and learn.
-
Refrain from inappropriate or insulting language and discourage its use by team members and spectators.
-
Refrain from raising my voice or making comments or gestures, which express disagreement with the referee.
-
Referees are a symbol of fair play, integrity and sportsmanship. It is the responsibility of SMYSA to maintain a Referee staff with good training and personal integrity.
-
Remember that I, too, represent Stone Mountain’s Youth Soccer Association each time my child is dressed in an SMYSA uniform.
-
I shall not possess, consume or distribute before, during or after any game or at any other time at the field and/or game complex alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs or unauthorized prescription drugs.
I also
understand and accept all of the
specific conduct codes specified
and agreed upon my child.
